Polish prosecutors pursue organised crime case as investigation into synthetic drugs continues

Newsroom

Polish prosecutors are continuing a large-scale investigation into an alleged organised criminal group suspected of manufacturing and distributing significant quantities of narcotic and psychotropic substances.

The case was initially supervised by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Pruszcz Gdański, with the first arrests taking place in July 2025. On October 6, 2025, responsibility for the investigation was transferred to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk.

Subsequent investigative measures have led to charges against dozens of individuals over the course of the proceedings. The prosecutor’s latest update identifies 26 suspects in the case, 12 of whom are currently in pre-trial detention.

The latest major development came after a September 29, 2026, search in the Mazowieckie region. Officers discovered what prosecutors describe as a complete synthetic-drug production facility and seized approximately 171 kilograms of substances, with an estimated illegal-market value of PLN 10 million.

Two additional suspects, Ukrainian nationals aged 37 and 25, were charged with participation in an organised criminal group and the production of substantial quantities of psychotropic substances. The court approved three-month pre-trial detention for both.

Under the provisions cited by prosecutors, participation in an organised criminal group carries a potential prison sentence of six months to eight years. The alleged production of substantial quantities of psychotropic substances is punishable by a fine and imprisonment ranging from three to 20 years.

The authorities stress that the investigation remains ongoing and further arrests are possible.
